Tech recommendations, discounts and support

University Technology, [U]Tech, at Case Western Reserve University offers students special pricing on quality computers and other technology related services. In addition, most of the software students need at CWRU is available at no additional cost through the [U]Tech’s Software Center.

Purchasing a computer is ultimately a personal decision, and students should consider their academic program when making a purchase. Both Windows PCs and Macs are used widely on campus. Students are encouraged to review suggestions from UTech to help determine their computer needs.

The majority of software students need during their time at CWRU is available to download at no additional cost on the [U]Tech Software Center. Other software titles, such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Parallels, can be purchased at a significant discount.

Software will download much faster on the university network. Please note: If students opt to download software from home, they must connect to the university’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) first. See vpnsetup.case.edu for more information.
