CWRU | First Year

Move-in timing, logistics and advice

Move-in and orientation are coming up fast! First-year students are asked to arrive on campus for move-in on the following dates to ensure they are able to fully participate in orientation programming.

  • Fall Varsity Athletes: Discuss your team’s move-in details with your coach.
  • Those traveling from outside of the continental United States: Invited to move in as early as Friday, Aug. 18th.
  • All Other Students: Sunday, Aug. 20th.

movein5Sign up for a move-in time on your New Student Checklist by Friday, Aug. 11. Upon arrival, you will check in at Wade Commons to pick up your orientation materials, room key and student ID.

Assistance will be provided during move-in Sunday. Staff in Cushman vehicles and small flatbed trucks will meet you curbside to help you unload your vehicle, and student volunteers will help you move your belongings to your room.

In order to help our volunteers (and yourself!), please consider these guidelines when preparing to move:

  • Pack the majority of items in boxes or storage containers. Larger loose items are ok. Small loose items or loose clothes are more difficult to transport.
  • Label your boxes and items with your name, building and room number. This will help the volunteers deliver your items to the correct room.
  • If it looks like we will have inclement weather, please pack your larger items appropriately.

Check the Guidebook app for a list of optional events prior to the start of New Student Orientation, like the parent-student lunch, campus tours, and the bank and cell phone fair.
