Prepare for the Spring Career Fair

The Spring Career Fair is coming up: Monday, Feb. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Don’t be fooled by the name, though. There are plenty of opportunities for first-year students to land internships and develop their professional networks at the Career Fair, if you know how.

Regardless of your major, year in college or future goals, there are numerous benefits to attending a career fair:

  • Get first-hand information about an organization from a representative. You’re likely to get more valuable and accurate information from an employee than you could ever get from a website.
  • Make a positive and lasting impression with employers. Begin to establish your professional image by distinguishing yourself from other candidates.
  • Effectively practice professional communication with recruiters and other future colleagues.

Learn how you can put your best foot forward at a Career Fair preparation workshop Wednesday, Feb. 7 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Peter B. Lewis building, Room 401.

The session will include strategies that can be used before, during and after the fair to impress employers and increase your likelihood of being contacted for an interview. Learn how to maximize your time at the fair and how to make a lasting impression on the employers in attendance. Register through Handshake.

Also, take some time reviewing these tips on preparing for a career fair.
