Suit up! Land an internship at Monday’s Career Fair

The Career Center will host its spring semester Get Experienced Career Fair Monday, Feb. 12. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Veale Convocation, Recreation and Athletic Center. Don’t be fooled by the name, though. First-year students can use the Career Fair to land their first internship, if they know what to expect and how to prepare.

Regardless of your major, year in college or future goals, there are numerous benefits to attending. The Career Fair provides opportunities to:

  • Get first-hand information about an organization from a representative. You’re likely to get more valuable and accurate information from an employee than you could ever get from a website.
  • Make a positive and lasting impression with employers. Begin to establish your professional image by distinguishing yourself from other candidates.
  • Effectively practice professional communication with recruiters and other future colleagues.

To get ready, review some tips on preparing for the Career Fair

Employer Guides help you research employers and identify organizations attending on-campus career fairs. Create a prioritized “Must Meet” list of organizations you wish to visit during the fair. Employer Guides can be accessed through HandshakeView the employers registered for the Spring 2018 Career Fair.
